What a great pic – I used to live on an acreage and we feed the little birds, grosbeaks, chickadees, red polls etc. but we set the feeder up in the open. The little guys would come to eat in flocks and squabble about the food source (pecking order). This went on for some time until a little hawk (not sure the species) discovered his noisy prey and would dive bomb for dinner. Needless to say, bird chaos and a few kills later we moved the feeder under the trees. It was a humbling lesson for me and my husband – we were really horrified. That little hawk was doing his thing and took advantage of the situation.

Whoops. So much for the new dog…..
It was eating something when I took this picture, but it wasn’t the dog or cat.
