Some people have razar sharp political instincts…
… some people are Gerard Kennedy.
At the last Liberal leadership convention, Gerard Kennedy was king maker, throwing his support to Stéphane Dion on the convention floor. This has worked out, shall we say, less than satisfactorily for the Liberal party.
Jump ahead to yesterday, while Dominic LeBlanc was making merry endorsing Michael Ignatieff, Gerard Kennedy was at Bob Rae’s office throwing his support behind the defender of democracy. Within twenty-four hours, Rae would pack it in and concede to Ignatieff.
That’s twice it has come down to Ignatieff and someone else, twice Kennedy has chosen someone else.
Look for Gerard Kennedy to occupy an office as far away from the new, acclaimed leader of the Liberal Party as Garth Turner once did from Stephen Harper.
If his record is any indication, the CPC should send a fruit basket to Kennedy!
BTW, isn’t it nice to be finally rid of Garth Turner? The air here in Halton is so much sweeter.
I wrote CTV and told them I did not feel it was necessary for Robert Fife to start his selling process of Iggy. Every time I turned on the TV yesterday – Robert was saying, “we have the feeling of an Obama here – he is so smart – he is smarter than Harper, on and on.” I lived in the U.S. 6 years and to me Iggy has the air of importance to him…. ” I am smarter than you and you dumb Canadians listen to me!” – Let Iggy sell himself and see if we like him. I am amazed liberals do – after all they hated the Americans when Bush was in power – remember the Harper/Bush thing – the Harper clone of George Bush – well maybe we better get on this, after all Iggy pushed a lot of the Bush ideas, maybe we have another clone… But we definitely do not want the media starting their selling pitch. Let’s get on it!
My wife says Iggy is “creepy” and watching him gives here the “creeps” … I wonder how many women feel this way about Iggy.
Hey Brian,
It’s not only the ladies Iggy Creeps out. I for one find his facial expressions quite peculiar.
Ya throw a black cape on him and he makes a great Count Dracula.
