Angry in the Great White North
” a heat-seeking missle in the Conservative arsenal”

Steve Janke’s Angry in the Great White North is one of the premier political blogs in Canada. His work during the recent election was outstanding. Many people may not have heard yet that one of the results of all that hard work is that he is being sued by former Liberal MP Blair Wilson. Al MacDermid and Mike Brock have created a fantastic live weekly show. In it’s second season, they have also begun streaming live using UStream. They’ve invested in some good quality hardware that produces excellent sound quality and allows for call-in guests and live callers. The show features various guests as well as discussion on current politics and general news events…

Controversial, sometimes funny and always fighting the fight. Some people might not consider the tent big enough for Gerry, I think that’s a mistake. You might not always agree with him, but his principled brand of conservatism is essential to the debate.

Conservative Queen

The Conservative Queen caught my eye this week with her posts on Election Financing. Her sharp eye also caught the fact that the Liberal Party website is still soliciting donations for Carolyn Bennett’s Leadership Campaign, even though she has already paid off her debts. (Maybe they’re helping her get a head start on the upcoming Liberal Leadership race!)

Welcome Back, Paul

August 3rd, 2008

Paul over at Blue Blogging Soapbox, an old friend of At Home in Hespeler, has returned to the Blogging Tories after a year-and-a-half absence. As such, he is returning to an old habit, the Blogging Tory Site of the Week.

Last January when he left the Blogging Tories Paul asked me to take over the Site of the Week. I did and ran it until October. It faded from sight as other blogging activities here faded. I was actually pondering whether to restart it in September, along with some other old standards. Now that Paul has returned, I will instead go to an old habit of parroting his choice sometime through the week.

For the record, here is the choices I made when I was picking Blogging Tories Site of the Week:

October 21: Freedom is My Nationality
October 14: Liberty is Good
October 7: Crux-of-the-Matter

September 16: Joanne’s Journey
September 9: Making Sense With Nicholls

May 13: The SFrank85 Report
May 6: Little Old Lady Speaks Out

April 29: Exactly Right
April 15: NB Tory Lady
April 8: The Lasso of Truth

March 25: Climbing Out Of The Dark
March 11: Right In Manitoba
March 4: The Great Pumpkin

Feb 25: Le Politico
Feb 18: Hobbs is “Right”
Feb 11: Clear Conservative Thought
Feb 4: Liberty is Good

Jan 28 Truth About Marketing Choice
Jan 7: Christian Conservative

Welcome back Paul, and if I can help please feel free to let me know.

Freedom is My Nationality

From the header: The name of this blog comes from a quote from the Canadian Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier. “Canada is free and freedom is its nationality.”

Be sure to slide down to Oct 16 post on the throne speech:

Where was Dion?
I would just like to congratulate Iggy on becoming the leader of the Liberal Party…

Liberty is Good

I have been enjoying Liberty is Good since I found it after a comment over at Gerry Nicholls place. IN the past month I have checked in every few days, and always enjoyed this blog. The writing is good, intelligent and philosophically agreeable, and as soon as I get around to it, Liberty is Good will wind up on my sidebar.

Crux-of-the-Matter

Sandy at Crux of the Matter has a had a good week highlighting Dalton McGuinty’s foibles. Particularly good has been the post on Dalton McGuinty’s record on education, which is spun to be good just because the teachers aren’t taking to the streets illegally .

Joanne’s Journey

The point of Site of the Week is really to highlight some lesser known blogs, try and give other people their due. But sometimes the bigger blogs just show us why they’re the bigger blogs. This week has been one of those weeks.

The story of the week, as far as I’m concerned, has been the native occupation in the Caledonia area, the beating of Sam Gualtieri by native “youths,” and Dalton McGuinty’s running away from the problem. Joanne has been all over this story and was, thus, un-ignorable as a choice for Site of the Week.

Making Sense With Nicholls

I wish this site of the week thing was always this easy. Gerry Nicholls and I have been on-line friends now for over a year. We were the only two people in Canada who seemed to care that the CAW was calling for elimination of Canadian capitalism, and replacing it with socialism. We have been friendly ever since, and it is one of the pleasures of blogging the last two years that I have been able to say so.

He is not only one of the top 5 political minds in the country, he wrote the list, and this week Gerry joined the blogging Tories.

Welcome to the team Gerry.

The SFrank85 Report

I particularly liked the post “What does it mean to be a true small c conservative now-a-days?” which, while I disagree with some of it’s premise, is a well thought out piece on a major problem conservatives have in Canada.

Little Old Lady Speaks Out

She may (or may not be) Little and Old, but she is taking on the cult of man made global warming. And did you know that Al Gore says breast feeding is the answer to global warming…the things you learn doing this job.
